NEMECSEK Programme - Hintalovon Child Rights Foundation

Safeguarding children, empowering communities.

Together, we create a safe space for every child.

About the NEMECSEK Programme

The story of the Hungarian novel “The Paul Street Boys”, the Grund, and Ernő Nemecsek resonates deeply with many people, not only in Hungary but across the world. It speaks about the themes of unity, listening to one another, acceptance, and the importance of support. These values are central to our programme, as we aim to help organisations become more transparent and foster communities where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered to give their best.

Our programme supports communities that work with children—such as schools, nurseries, sports clubs, and summer camps—by guiding them in taking concrete steps to operate safely and develop their own child safeguarding policies. Here’s what you should know about a child safeguarding policy:

  • It outlines the principles and guidelines that ensure both children and adults feel safe within the community.
  • It strengthens awareness of children’s rights, helps identify boundary violations, and addresses bullying.
  • It provides a clear, transparent framework for preventing, managing, and following up on cases of abuse and bullying, making the process for handling incidents open and understandable. This ensures everyone knows who to approach for advice, how to seek help, how to report an issue, and what to expect when a report is made.
  • Ultimately, a safeguarding policy fosters a sense of unity, improves the organisation’s environment, builds trust, and strengthens communication among community members.

Transparency and prevention

Whether it’s peer-to-peer or adult-child abuse, it’s essential that everyone knows who to turn to for help. The organisation must implement a clear and transparent framework with established guidelines to prevent, address, and follow up on incidents of abuse.

Why is it beneficial for all members of the organisation to have a child safeguarding policy?

We are proud to have collaborated with them

We work with a diverse range of organizations and, in recent years, have helped over 40 institutions improve the safety of their operations. Our partners include schools, nurseries, foundations, municipalities, sports clubs, and cultural institutions.

We believe that a truly inclusive and accepting kindergarten is built on core values that recognize the uniqueness of every child and adult in their lives. In collaboration with the Hintalovon Foundation, we developed a living document—our Child Safeguarding Policy—that protects and celebrates the diversity of all children.

As a result of our collaboration with the Hintalovon Foundation, we are committed to creating a safe environment by paying close attention to children. If we identify a child facing a difficult situation, we will provide support to help resolve it. We also welcome and take all feedback seriously. While delivering a quality entertainment and theatre experience, the safety of children remains our top priority, as reflected in our Child Safeguarding Policy.

As a child, it would have meant a lot to have support like this when I faced challenges. It was important to know who I could turn to for help. Even today, many children don’t seek help because they often don’t realize that what’s happening to them isn’t normal. A Child Safeguarding Policy not only addresses this need but also raises awareness within organizations, an area often overlooked by most sports associations.
